DESCRIPTION:Come earn some points for buckheadWALKS! walking challenge and join Livable Buckhead for the third of our Friday community walks. Livable Buckhead is excited to be opening the new segment of PATH400 this fall. Come check out a sneak peak of the new trail segment and learn more about PATH400 and where this new segment from Denise Starling\, Executive Director of Livable Buckhead. \nBelow the Peachtree Park neighborhood\, the greenway comes into an area that has a very industrial or utilitarian feel. Bounded on one side by the highway\, the other by freight and passenger rail and with MARTA directly overhead. The phase in this area includes bridging under the railroad line and could include enhanced options\, as “dressing up” the walls with murals. \nOne of the most surprising areas of the trail is a detention pond built to serve water running off from the highway which has turned into what feels like a wetland or environmentally sensitive area.  The phase in this area includes the trail itself hugging the top of the slope along the rail line. \nThe walk will begin at Lenox Square’s Fashion Cafe (food court) in front of Five Guys Restaurant at Noon (directions here). Livable Buckhead staff will be on hand to greet you. We will have tours leaving at 12:00\, 12:20 and 12:40 for 20 people max for each tour\, first come first serve. SUMMARY:Loridans Park - Day in the Dirt!
DESCRIPTION:Grab your neighbor\, and join the North Buckhead Civic Association and Livable Buckhead for a volunteer day at Loridans Park! \nThis Day in the Dirt volunteer event provides an extraordinary opportunity for the North Buckhead Civic Association to promote community involvement\, encourage environmental Stewardship\, while making an immediate and tangible impact on one of Buckhead’s newest parks. These volunteer events will include pruning\, rooting out invasive species\, cleaning up the park by collecting trash\, etc. No previous experience is necessary\, just a willingness to pitch in\, get a little dirty and have some fun making a tangible difference in the park. Tools will be provided for by Livable Buckhead and the Atlanta Toolbank. \nAll volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water. Projects will be scheduled on Saturday\, July 20th 10 am -12 pm and will meet at the wooded area next to the Loridans Drive 400 overpass\, that is Loridans park. Make sure you register through Hands on Atlanta.
