DESCRIPTION:If festive fun is on your holiday “to do” list\, Buckhead is the place to be this December. \nOn Saturday\, December 11th Livable Buckhead invites visitors to stroll along Peachtree Road between Lenox Square and the Buckhead Village District to view the beautiful light displays\, stopping at designated locations to enjoy hot chocolate and specialty cocktails along the way. Local musicians and holiday carolers will add to the festive atmosphere with performances at various points along the walking route. Free holiday holographic glasses will be provided to add even more sparkle to the viewing experience\, and the first 100 people will receive a commemorative ceramic campfire mug. \nStops include: Check in for mugs: JW Marriott / Front of Lenox Square (our DJ will be spinning live) / Shops Around Lenox / Peachtree Road – Resurgens Plaza and Serendipity Labs / Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead / Embassy Suites (choral group) / Hyatt Place and ending with St. Germain Bakery at the Buckhead Village District \nGetting There: We encourage you to use MARTA when visiting Buckhead (Lenox or Buckhead Stations are a short walks from the start of our planned route). Parking is available at Lenox Square courtesy of Simon Properties. \nGetting Around: We encourage walking but when those legs get a little wobbly\, we’ll have the buc shuttle operating as your FREE Santa’s sleigh between stops. The buc will operate from 5:30 – 8:30pm. Catch one of the festively decorated shuttles to Loudermilk Park to see the trees\, or to the Buckhead Village District to enjoy their holiday merrymaking.

While 87\,000 people call Buckhead home\, the daytime population swells to an estimated 140\,000 as workers\, tourists and business people go about their day. We will meet in front of the Dump (815 Sidney Marcus Blvd.\, Atlanta\, GA 30324) at 8:50am\, with the walk taking place from 9:00am – 10:30am. Please bring tools such as gloves\, grabbers and trash bags. \nInvite your neighbors and friends to join us. children are welcome! Please share this information to Nextdoor App or with your contacts. \n \nAbout Clean Walks: Clean Walks is an nonprofit organization to promote\, educate\, and enhance awareness of a clean\, neat and beautiful environment for our communities through events and environment clean up.  As a result\, we show kindness to our neighbors\, local businesses\, cities\, and ourselves. SUMMARY:PATH400 Water Cleanup - Maxine Rock Day of Service
DESCRIPTION:Grab your neighbor\, and join Livable Buckhead for a volunteer day on PATH400! This waterway cleanup volunteer event provides an extraordinary opportunity for Livable Buckhead to promote community involvement\, encourage environmental stewardship\, while making an immediate and tangible impact on one of Buckhead’s newest parks. \nVolunteer Tasks: \n\nCleaning up the waterway adjacent to PATH400\nGraffiti Clearing\nInvasive species removal\n\nNo previous experience is necessary\, just a willingness to pitch in\, get a little dirty and have some fun making a tangible difference in the park. Tools and waders will be provided for by Livable Buckhead and the Atlanta ToolBank. All volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water. \nProject Details: Projects will be scheduled on Saturday\, February 19th from 10 am – 12 pm and will meet at the neighborhood entrance of PATH400 (750 East Paces Road NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30305). \nAmple street parking is available adjacent to the PATH400 entrance. \nCOVID-19 Protocols: This event will be hosted outside and masks will only be required for unvaccinated individuals. If you have a known exposure\, please refrain from attending the event. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided. \n \nAbout Maxine Rock: Maxine A. Rock graduated from New York University in 1961 and from the University of Michigan in June 1963 with a graduate degree in journalism. She was a journalist and writer who authored numerous articles and books on medicine\, environment\, human relations and science. Her favorite book was the one she wrote with her grandchildren titled\, “Adventures in Faun Forest.” \nShe was a founder and President of the North Buckhead Civic Association and was instrumental in the creation of the PATH Foundation\, which has built numerous walking and bicycle trails throughout the Atlanta region\, including PATH400 in partnership with Livable Buckhead. She was a tireless advocate for the environment and maintained membership in the Sierra Club\, the Nature Conservancy and other environmental and wildlife agencies. She was an enthusiastic cyclist\, potter and painter. \nA stone plaza overlooking the detention pond on PATH400 that we will be cleaning is named in her honor.
