DESCRIPTION:Special Public Interest District 12 covers the commercial core of the Buckhead Community surrounding the two malls and the major high rise office developments.  This zoning overlay district was one of the first ever written in the City and one of the last to be incorporated into the underlying zoning. In 2011\, the Buckhead Community Improvement District and sister organization\, BATMA (organization preceding Livable Buckhead)\, began updating this district to incorporate public art\, transportation options\, connectivity and greenspace among other changes\, with all changes having been completed in Summer of 2012. \n\n\n\n\nDRC meetings are open to the public and take place on the first Wednesday of each month via Zoom.  The SPI-12 DRC meeting begins at 3:00pm.

DESCRIPTION:Date: March 2 \nTime: 10am – 12pm \nDescription: This waterway cleanup event provides an opportunity to get involved with your community and be an environmental steward. \nPurpose: Community involvement & environmental stewardship. In 2023\, more than 50 volunteers collected hundreds of pound of trash\, making a difference in the natural habitat around this environmentally sensitive detention pond\, filled with native wildlife. \nRole: We will be removing debris from the pond along PATH400\, as well as clearing the surrounding area. No previous experience is necessary and it should be a fun and rewarding morning\, making a tangible difference. \nVibe: Have fun and learn about the native environment \nLocation: Peachtree Park Neighborhood Entrance to PATH400 (3399 Peachtree Dr NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30305) \n\nAdditional Information: No previous experience is necessary\, just a willingness to pitch in\, get a little dirty\, and have some fun making a tangible difference in the area. \nParking: Free parking is available along the neighborhood streets next to PATH400 (address above). Please do not block any driveways. The Lenox MARTA station is a quick walk to the volunteer location as well. \nWhat to Bring With You: \n\nAppropriate Clothing: Please ensure you are wearing clothing that can get dirty and closed toed shoes. Join us as Livable Buckhead’s executive director\, Denise Starling\, gives you a personal\, behind-the-scenes tour of how this multi-purpose greenway is being created. \nThis is an active construction site\, so you are required to wear closed toe shoes (preferably boots)\, preferably long pants\, a hard hat (to be provided)\, be physically able to do some climbing\, and sign a waiver before the tour begins. Space is limited to 20 people. \nAbout PATH400: PATH400 is a 5.2-mile walkable\, bikeable greenway being constructed on public land adjacent to GA 400 extending from the bank of Peachtree Creek northward toward the northern edge of Atlanta. It is the centerpiece of a broader greenspace plan\, the Buckhead Collection\, initiated by Atlanta Councilman Howard Shook. Livable Buckhead is spearheading the PATH400 project in partnership with the Buckhead Community Improvement District (Buckhead CID) and the PATH Foundation. Several other agencies and organizations are involved in the development of PATH400\, including Georgia Department of Transportation\, the City of Atlanta\, MARTA\, Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Unit B\, and Atlanta Public Schools. PATH400 will increase access to community amenities such as arts\, historic\, and cultural exhibits; neighborhood pocket parks and greenspaces; retail centers; and learning centers. Join us as Livable Buckhead’s executive director\, Denise Starling\, gives you a personal\, behind-the-scenes tour of how this multi-purpose greenway is being created. \nThis is an active construction site\, so you are required to wear closed toe shoes (preferably boots)\, preferably long pants\, a hard hat (to be provided)\, be physically able to do some climbing\, and sign a waiver before the tour begins. Space is limited to 20 people. \nAbout PATH400: PATH400 is a 5.2-mile walkable\, bikeable greenway being constructed on public land adjacent to GA 400 extending from the bank of Peachtree Creek northward toward the northern edge of Atlanta. It is the centerpiece of a broader greenspace plan\, the Buckhead Collection\, initiated by Atlanta Councilman Howard Shook. Livable Buckhead is spearheading the PATH400 project in partnership with the Buckhead Community Improvement District (Buckhead CID) and the PATH Foundation. Several other agencies and organizations are involved in the development of PATH400\, including Georgia Department of Transportation\, the City of Atlanta\, MARTA\, Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Unit B\, and Atlanta Public Schools. DESCRIPTION:Special Public Interest District 12 covers the commercial core of the Buckhead Community surrounding the two malls and the major high rise office developments.  This zoning overlay district was one of the first ever written in the City and one of the last to be incorporated into the underlying zoning. In 2011\, the Buckhead Community Improvement District and sister organization\, BATMA (organization preceding Livable Buckhead)\, began updating this district to incorporate public art\, transportation options\, connectivity and greenspace among other changes\, with all changes having been completed in Summer of 2012. \n\n\n\n\nDRC meetings are open to the public and take place on the first Wednesday of each month via Zoom.  The SPI-12 DRC meeting begins at 3:00pm.
