SUMMARY:Reaching New Heights: A Celebration of Neighbors\, Nature\, and PATH400
DESCRIPTION:Connecting Neighbors\, Nature\, and the Future of Atlanta \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate and time: Friday\, September 26 · 4 – 7pm EDT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: 684 Mountain Drive Northeast Atlanta\, GA 30342 \n\nAbout this event \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Friday\, September 26\, join us at Mountain Way Common to celebrate Buckhead’s newest landmark with an afternoon of fall festivities\, community spirit\, and a ribbon cutting unlike any other. PATH400 is more than a trail. It is a vision for a greener\, more connected Atlanta\, and this soaring 80-foot bridge is a milestone that links neighbors\, nature\, and the future of our city’s trail network. \nThe celebration truly has something for everyone: \n\nFamily Fun Zone – Sack races\, bubbles\, face painting\, sidewalk chalk\, and games that fill the park with laughter. Big laughs\, bigger memories.\nGarden 684 – Kids pick mini pumpkins\, families pose for festive fall photos\, and everyone discovers the buzzing world of pollinators. Pumpkins\, pollinators\, and picture-perfect fun.\nPup-Friendly Fun – Splash pad\, tasty treats\, free bandanas\, and a festive dog parade up the bridge. A paw-sitively perfect celebration.\n\nAt 4:45\, the big moment arrives. A joyful community procession of kids\, families\, and dogs leads to the ribbon cutting high above the trees. With one dramatic snip\, the bridge comes alive as bubbles float across the treetops in a dazzling celebration. \nNeighbors will share food\, music\, and memories thanks to the North Buckhead Civic Association\, with local favorites like tacos\, hot dogs\, popsicles\, and lemonade. Picnic blankets and hay bales invite everyone to relax and enjoy the park together. \nKnow before you go: Parking is limited\, so walking\, biking\, or rideshare is encouraged. This is a family- and dog-friendly event\, so bring comfy shoes\, water\, and your camera to capture the memories. \nCome celebrate\, make connections\, and be part of the next chapter in Buckhead’s most unexpected park.

SUMMARY:Regenerating Earth Patagonia Book Tour with Kelsey Timmerman
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of conversation about living regeneratively with bestselling author and journalist Kelsey Timmerman as he presents his new book Regenerating Earth: Farmers Working with Nature to Feed Our Future. \nTimmerman comes from a long line of farmers and lives in rural Indiana\, surrounded by monocultures of corn and soybeans. Motivated by the challenges he saw at home—polluted water and air\, and fraying ties between land and community—and a belief that humans can be a force for good\, he set out to find a more hopeful path. \nOver five years and across five continents\, Timmerman met farmers\, Indigenous leaders\, and activists. From Hawaiian kalo patches to the Amazon rainforest and Maasai cattle lands\, Regenerating Earth is a compelling\, deeply personal\, and surprisingly joyful journey that explores what it means to live regeneratively. Not just in how we farm\, but in how we connect to each other and the planet. Through stories full of grit\, heart\, and humor\, Timmerman reminds us that healing the Earth isn’t just possible\, it’s already happening\, and we can all be part of it. \n  \nBooks will be available for purchase and signing. \nWe’ll be joined by our nonprofit friends from GA ForestWatch and more TBA! \nFarmer’s Jam (@farmersjamatl) will be serving hand poured refreshers and cocktails with fruit syrups sourced from local farms and enjoy a curated spread of locally sourced foods with a Patagonia Provisions twist\, provided by Le Bon Nosh (@lebonnosh).

Join us at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve for our next Sustainability Committee meeting. We’ll start with a light walk through one of Atlanta’s hidden gems before diving into key sustainability topics in a serene natural setting. \nThis meeting will spotlight the proposed PATH400 connection to Blue Heron and Chastain Park\, an exciting initiative that would link Buckhead’s core to nearby neighborhoods\, parks\, and schools through safe and accessible multi-use trails. We’ll also share updates on two major programs launching this fall: \nBuckhead’s Compost CompetitionAn EPA grant funded initiative offering free composting services and education to 15 multifamily properties \nEmbodied Carbon Zoning AmendmentA policy proposal encouraging the use of low carbon building materials in new construction projects\, based on recent community engagement \nWhether you’re a long-time member or new to the group\, this is a great opportunity to reconnect\, learn\, and help shape a greener Buckhead. Bring your walking shoes and feel free to invite a friend — we’d love to see this community grow. \nQuestions? Let us know. We hope to see you there.
