DESCRIPTION:Partner: City of AtlantaStatus: ActiveTimeline: Traffic flow study\, 2015; safety improvements design\, 2016; construction beginning in April 2024 and anticipated to be complete in November 2025Cost and Funding Sources: Estimated cost – $4 million; funding provided by the City of Atlanta and Buckhead Community Improvement District \nJoin Livable Buckhead and the Buckhead Community Improvement District to learn about the Wieuca Rd & Phipps Blvd Roundabout project and how you may be impacted.\nHIGHLIGHTS \n\nFirst multi-lane roundabout within Atlanta city limits will bring connectivity and safety for drivers\, pedestrians and cyclists\nProject implementation will ease traffic flow through the Wieuca Road and Phipps Boulevard intersection\nLandscaping of 85′ wide central island will beautify area between residential neighborhood and business district\n\nWieuca Road @ Phipps Blvd Roundabout – the city’s first-ever\, multi-lane roundabout – will ease rush hour traffic congestion and reduce crash severity and frequency at one of Buckhead’s busiest intersections\, Wieuca Road and Phipps Boulevard. Equipped with bike lanes and crosswalks\, the project will increase pedestrian visibility and improve safety for motorists\, cyclists and pedestrians. Cody Lillstrom\, Boulder County Resource Conservation Division Boulder County Jail (Food Recovery Challenge regional awardee)\nMr. Lillstrom is the Zero Waste Program Manager for Boulder County’s Resource Conservation Department where he has served since 2016. He was an AmericaCorps*VISTA Member\, Leader and Program Manager in Montana. Cody earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from the University of Colorado in Denver. \nTimothy Oliveira\, Boulder County Jail and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (Food Recovery Challenge regional awardee)\nMr. Oliveira has been with Boulder County’s Sheriff’s Office for 18 years. He is the Support Services Commander at the Boulder County Jail where he oversees the Food Services Unit and the jail’s Alternative Sentencing Program\, which includes oversight of the one-acre on-site garden. \nAndre Villasenor\, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9\nAndre Villasenor is the Sustainable Management of Food Coordinator in EPA’s Southern California.
