SUMMARY:Big PATH\, Tiny Parks
DESCRIPTION:Livable Buckhead has teamed up with local Tiny Doors ATL artist to develop an outdoor event like no other along PATH400 that turns our typical PARK(ing) Day tiny! For this weekend-long event\, Livable Buckhead will work with partners\, residents\, and sponsors to build parks on a miniature scale to then be viewed and voted on by the public. The goal is to demonstrate the value of increased greenspace in our community by showcasing how impactful community art is and the value of parks – no matter how small. \nOn October 16-18th from 8AM to 5PM Livable Buckhead invites you to join us for an immersion experience of tiny parks along PATH400 near Old Ivy Park in Buckhead. We have over 35 tiny parks to be viewed\, voted and explored! \nParks will be along the 1/2 mile stretch between Lenox and Old Ivy Roads. Urban Enterprises and Livable Buckhead staff will be available to answer any questions you may have about the experience. \nCan’t attend in-person? No problem. Livable Buckhead has created a virtual experience for all of our attendees to view and participate. This virtual event space is for people who want to gather online and view the tiny parks. The virtual space is an immersive auditory and visual experience that replicates the in-person experience\, including the voting aspect of Big PATH\, Tiny Parks and the custom soundtracks that local DJ Mike Zarin created for each tiny park.

SUMMARY:North Buckhead Bee Arrival Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Honeybees are coming to North Buckhead! \nJoin us on Saturday\, May 8th to celebrate the introduction of our bee hives and their queen bee at 684 Mountain Drive. \nThe festivities will begin at 1 pm\, and will include a parade for children to walk in their most festive bee-inspired wear. The parade will start at 684 Mountain Drive\, circle through Mountain Way Common\, then come down Mountain Way to end at 684 Mountain Drive. \nNot able to arrive in a costume? No problem! We want all who are willing and excited to participate — babies in baby strollers included! \nThere will also be food & drinks\, arts & crafts\, and interactive\, educational activities for the kids to enjoy. \nThe honeybees will be safe and comfortable in their hives away from the crowd. There is no entrance fee for this event. \nThis event is the culmination of our work this past year to create a bee habitat at 684 Mountain Drive. Livable Buckhead has partnered with Doc’s Healing Hives and Buckhead Rotary Club to further develop this local Buckhead community park. It will soon serve as an amenity to PATH400\, and the bee habitat — which includes bee hives and a pollinator garden — will serve as an educational opportunity to showcase how vital bees are to our ecosystem. \nPlease follow CDC guidelines on COVID-19 precautions\, including maintaining a safe distance from others during this event. \nPlease contact Michelle@livablebuckhead.org with any questions about this event.

SUMMARY:Poet of a Threatened Eden: Retrospective of works by Frank Hyder
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 26\, Bill Lowe Gallery will present Poet of a Threatened Eden\, featuring a landmark 35-year retrospective of works by American multi-disciplinary artist\, Frank Hyder. Hyder is best known for his use of cinematic devices to create a mysterious\, metaphysical reality of intense light and shade\, where forms appear and dissolve\, moving the viewer to dream with eyes open – to feel without touching\, and to feel touched by the very experience of seeing. Hyder’s works depict a ceremonial reverence for nature\, and function as reliquaries which facilitate emotional bonds to the natural world – a world that is often forgotten\, ignored\, and abused. \nThis retrospective focuses on works created from 1986 through 2022 and features Hyder’s hand-carved\, scored\, engraved and painted works on wood and other media\, ranging in scale from monumental to intimate. Each functions as altar piece in organic cathedrals composed of the earth’s great forests\, rivers and mountains – from the Americas to Europe and Africa. Hyder’s work is noted for its enigmatic light sources\, which are achieved through dense layering of media that conveys the rich materiality and sensuality of the organic universe\, and our spiritual connection to it. \nMany of his projects incorporate organic materials such as wood that he carves and composes to explore the duality of man and nature. Pieces like his famous “Prophet Boxes” invite the viewer to open a latch and reveal other physical and metaphysical spaces. \n“I am interested in creating dialogues with cultures and the shared experiences\,” said Hyder. “My work is designed to open portals between all cultures; between all worlds.” \nGRAND RE-OPENING\nPoet of A Threatened Eden by Frank Hyder\nSaturday\, March 26th\n6:00 pm – 9:00 pm \n\n\nFrank Hyder The New World Box (Opened) Scored\, Etched\, Carved\, and Acrylic Painted Wood 96 x 192 inches \n\n\n\n\n\nFrank Hyder The New World Box (Closed) Scored\, Etched\, Carved and Acrylic Painted Wood 96 x 96
