DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, due to forecasted rain and thunderstorms\, we must cancel tomorrow’s bike class. We are working with our partners to reschedule this event and will let you know as soon as the new date is announced. We are truly disappointed and hope you’ll be able to join us on the rescheduled date. \nBring your bikes and the family to our community cycling safety event for all ages. \nThe purpose of ongoing bicycle education is to teach children basic bicycle handling skills\, traffic signs and signals\, how to ride on streets with traffic present\, proper helmet use\, bicycle safety checks\, and bicycle maintenance. \nYoung children are just learning about traffic. They have little experience with which to anticipate and interpret potential traffic hazards\, and limited abilities to reason and react. Their brains are still developing\, and they lack the maturity and judgment needed to negotiate traffic safely and to limit risk-taking behaviors. \nBicycling education can increase participation in bicycling\, improve individual bicycling confidence\, and improve overall motor skills. Education will also emphasize the importance of protective safety equipment and good bicycle maintenance practices. Bicycle safety training and education is incorporated into life-long\, comprehensive traffic safety education. \nThis event will be led by partners from Patagonia Atlanta\, Propel ATL\, Safe Routes to School and the YMCA. Please be aware that bees are present at 684 Mountain Way Park\, and you will need to fill out our liability waiver prior to attending the event.
